I added a new feature on the right to show what books I'm reading this year. Check out librarything.com to see how I did it.

Here's a short katamari damacy midi file that can be used as a ringtone. I like this one because starts right at the na-na-na part, without the big intro. It's about 30 seconds. The finale sounds a bit off to me, but I'm no midi expert.

Congress readies broad new digital copyright bill | CNET News.com - NO! You've got to be kidding me! I guess I'll be writing my girlfried Kay Bailey Hutchison again, so she can write back and tell me she disagrees.

I'm testing flickr as a replacement for the photo gallery I currently store on my own website. My web host is free (bonus!), but that means it's hard to change anything significant. Go see my new flickr site here. btw, don't leave the "c" out of flickr, 'cause you'll end up somewhere entirely different! Ah, the Internet is funny.

Bad choice by an undergrad - A college prof at UC Berkeley had his laptop stolen. Unfortunately for the thief, what seemed like a minor transgression could put him/her in a federal prison. Click the link for details. (via Boing Boing)

Firefox - I've officially switched over to Firefox as my internet browser. My geek friends think I'm woefully behind-the-times, and the rest of you are saying, "wasn't Clint Eastwood in that movie?" So, to the geeks: Better late than never. And to the rest: Firefox is an alternative to Microsoft's Internet Explorer, and it has some cool features that MS will never bother to add to IE. Specifically, I really like tabbed browsing because I can right-click a link and say "Open in New Tab" and the tab opens behind my current tab, instead of in front like a new IE window does. Just try it for week and see if you like it.

It's free too!

Freedom to Tinker: Godwin's Law, Updated - Read this quick article about how big media and big software switch sides when certain taboo's are discussed. It just proves that everyone is lying to you. Even me.

Grounded: Millionaire John Gilmore stays close to home while making a point about privacy - Sometimes it takes a million bucks to have principles. John Gilmore is right: I shouldn't have to show ID to travel inside my own country. But for me, the hassle of the fight isn't worth the payoff. Luckily I can support passionate men like Mr. Gilmore who pursue the fight on my behalf.

Righting Copyright - It's a long read, but it's about a topic that I'm quietly passionate about. My friends think I'm passionate about many other things, but copyright law doesn't seem to come up much.
