Abstinence Or Obstinacy? (washingtonpost.com) Bush asks American teenagers to depend on ignorance. Why? While abstinence does prevent pregnancy and STDs, it is not the ONLY method. What it does prevent is SEX, and that's the dirty word here. That's what Bush and the Republicans are trying to prevent. Again, Why? The "Just Say No" message failed in the drug war, but at least most people can agree that drugs are bad. But with sex, even Republicans are for it; they're just consumed by the timing. After marriage good, before marriage bad. SEX is not the problem here. UNEDUCATED people having sex is the problem. Let's try to provide a little more education.
